Job description

  • Designing, architecting, and implementing cloud software to support space ground systems and operations, including detailed software modeling and design documentation.
  • Writing and maintaining software in modern programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C++.
  • Developing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs to support mission and business functionality.
  • Applying CI/CD practices, version control (Git), and automated testing to ensure high-quality, reliable software delivery.

  • Applying strong problem-solving skills to rapidly understand and address complex technical concepts.

  • Preparing charts, presenting data, and providing recommendations to internal teams, program leadership, and external customers, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Effectively managing personal tasking and priorities in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.

  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

  • Experience designing and developing applications using AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, IAM).

  • Proficiency in a modern programming language (such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C++).

  • Experience developing and deploying RESTful APIs.

  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance
  • Experience designing and implementing event-driven and/or serverless architectures in AWS.
  • Familiarity with AWS security best practices (IAM, KMS, resource policies, VPC).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, or similar tools).
  • Hands-on experience integrating multiple AWS services into cohesive solutions.
  • Experience working with API Gateway (HTTP/REST APIs, securing endpoints, custom authorizers).
  • Familiarity with ground segment, mission operations, and secure communications

Benefits & conditions

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
