Job description

We are currently seeking a Network Engineer to join a leading organisation’s Networks team in Stevenage. The successful candidate will provide network support across the UK estate, working closely with internal teams, security specialists, external suppliers and network service teams to maintain and improve network services., * Provide dedicated network support at the Stevenage site, with occasional support to other UK locations including Bolton and Bristol.

  • Identify, manage and remediate network issues and risks.
  • Support UK network initiatives and improvements as part of the wider Networks team.
  • Work closely with internal teams, external suppliers and partners to ensure effective network service delivery.
  • Support the development of security reporting and risk analysis.
  • Work with Service Managers and Network Services teams to ensure network requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the Network Crypto Specialist on crypto management and support.
  • Maintain accurate and structured technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong professional background in IT / Network Engineering.
  • Demonstrable crypto knowledge and strong knowledge of crypto best practice.
  • Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE.
  • Good knowledge of Cisco best practices and CVDs.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model.
  • Good knowledge of network protocols including:
  • HSRP / VRRP
  • HTTP / HTTPS
  • OSPF / BGP
  • SSL
  • TCP/IP
  • Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Linux / RHEL.
  • VMware / vSphere.
  • Knowledge of Software-Defined Access (SDA) principles and deployments.
  • Understanding of authentication services.
  • Knowledge of network cabling fundamentals.
  • Network monitoring tools such as Nagios, PRTG or SolarWinds.
  • A structured approach to documentation and problem solving.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure.
