Job description

Stay hands-on with backend development, with around 90% of the role focused on backend work
Work on a large platform with high-throughput APIs, Azure Cloud, and an event-driven architecture
Help shape technical direction, engineering standards, and architecture
Mentor other engineers

We are a growing business working on a large, high-throughput platform in the telecommunications and online payments space. This is a remote-first Principal Java or Kotlin Developer role based around our Newbury office, with an expectation of around 2-3 visits per year, though more time onsite is welcome. You would join a 16-person R&D development team made up largely of senior engineers. Requirements

Strong experience with Java or Kotlin on JVM 11+
Strong experience with Spring Boot
Experience in enterprise backend development
Experience with REST APIs and microservices
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with Git and modern development practices
Comfortable operating at Principal level, making technical decisions, solving complex problems, and helping other engineers develop
