Job description

AWS Networking builds the infrastructure that powers every customer workload in the cloud. We are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead the ENA Express team., The team under your leadership will design and develop features across the AWS Networking software stack on Nitro Cards. Together with the team you’ll deep-dive into ENA Express and the underlying SRD protocol and L3/L4 networking to optimize packet delivery, reduce tail latency, and improve bandwidth utilization. You’ll collaborate with hardware and firmware partners to define software/hardware interfaces and surface programmable capabilities to the software layer You’ll partner with EC2 platform and service teams to integrate ENA Express features into the broader AWS networking ecosystem You’ll mentor junior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, and champion engineering best practices across the team You’ll drive operational excellence: build observability, contribute to on-call health, and lead incident response and post-mortems

Requirements

The organization you would be joining is Annapurna Labs, an integral part of AWS that develops hardware and software components that are critical building blocks for EC2 infrastructure. Every instance in EC2 is running some type of hardware designed by Annapurna Labs. We specialize in designing software, systems, and chips that optimize the AWS customer experience. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • 3+ years of C or C+ or Rust development experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, maintaining active programming proficiency
  • Hands-on experience with Network packet processing, Embedded environment (on NIC development) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
