Job description

Our client is seeking a SCADA Integration Engineer to join their SCADA team and lead the integration of SCADA systems from acquired assets into an existing Ignition platform as part of mergers, acquisitions, and asset integration initiatives. This role is responsible for assessing acquired assets’ SCADA architecture, defining migration scope, and executing the technical migration and cutover of diverse SCADA environments into Ignition while maintaining operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and system reliability.

The SCADA Integration Engineer will serve as the technical lead throughout the full project lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing, implementation, and post-cutover support. Responsibilities include evaluating existing SCADA architecture, tags, and HMI screens; developing and migrating Ignition Perspective screens; creating and organizing tags, UDTs, and folder structures; and integrating polling engines and OPC servers to bring field data into the enterprise SCADA environment.

This individual will also design, develop, and maintain tools and utilities that automate recurring integration activities such as bulk tag creation, UDT generation, data mapping, validation, and tag reconciliation to improve efficiency and consistency across integration projects. The role requires close collaboration with vendors, contractors, operations personnel, and engineering, IT, and OT stakeholders to ensure successful system integration and deployment.

Additional responsibilities include conducting point-to-point testing, system acceptance testing, and production cutover activities; maintaining technical documentation including architecture diagrams, tag mapping documentation, and testing records; supporting post-cutover stabilization efforts; and ensuring compliance with Management of Change (MOC) processes and applicable regulatory requirements. Strong hands-on expertise in Ignition development, SCADA system migration, tool development, and industrial control systems is required, along with excellent communication, problem-solving, and project execution skills.

Requirements

6+ years of experience in SCADA systems engineering, including hands-on Ignition development and administration.

Experience migrating or integrating SCADA systems from a variety of legacy platforms into Ignition strongly preferred.

Oil and gas industry experience required, with Midstream operations experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, industrial control systems, PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), OPC servers, and polling engines (AutoSol ACM preferred).

Experience developing Ignition Perspective HMI screens, tags, and UDT structures within a production SCADA environment.

Proficiency in Python, including Ignition’s Jython scripting environment and development of standalone automation tools and utilities.

Strong SQL and database management experience, including historians and data acquisition systems.

Experience with system testing methodologies, including point-to-point testing, system acceptance testing, and production cutover planning.

Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.

Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience in oil and gas SCADA systems, particularly in SCADA integration, migration, and industrial automation environments, will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Benefits & conditions

This role pays $50-65 an hour based on years of experience.

Candidates must be working a hybrid schedule in the Woodlands, Tx.
