Job description

We are seeking an Python/ AWS Engineer to join a Software Defined Networking team responsible for automating network and network security functions across a large-scale AWS environment.This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining automation solutions that support network provisioning, security controls, routing, and cloud infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with AWS networking, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Python automation, and AWS-native services. This is a highly technical engineering role centered on cloud infrastructure and automation, not application development. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated solutions for AWS networking and security infrastructure.
  • Build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using CloudFormation and related technologies.
  • Develop Python-based automation to streamline provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and operational workflows.
  • Automate network provisioning, security group management, routing configuration, and network security controls.
  • Deploy and manage AWS-native services to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cloud, networking, security, and platform teams to implement enterprise cloud strategies.
  • Support software-defined networking initiatives across AWS environments.
  • Develop technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and networking issues.
  • Promote automation best practices, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the cloud environment., Team: Software Defined Networking Primary Focus:

This team develops and maintains the automation framework that enables cloud networking and security services to scale efficiently across the enterprise. What This Team Is NOT Looking For The ideal candidate is an Infrastructure Automation Engineer, not a traditional software developer. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily focused on the following areas are unlikely to be a fit:

Requirements

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Strong AWS experience, particularly with networking and infrastructure services.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
  • Significant experience with CloudFormation and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking concepts, including:

  • VPCs
  • CIDR
  • Route Tables
  • Security Groups
  • Network ACLs (NACLs)
  • Network Segmentation
  • Load Balancing
  • Experience designing secure, highly available, and scalable AWS environments.
  • Experience implementing network security automation and infrastructure orchestration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • AWS certifications (must be verified prior to submission).
  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise environments.
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Understanding of cloud resiliency, failover, disaster recovery, and fault-tolerant architectures.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, encryption, access control, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments., Skilled in engineering resilient, highly available cloud solutions in secure AWS environments Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, network architecture, security, and identity management. Experience in building cloud environments (accounts and VPCs) and software-defined networking that allows for connectivity across the enterprise platforms Ability to design Fault Tolerant platforms and implement Failover and Recovery Strategies Skilled in DevOps and modern CI/CD methodologies and tools Automating cloud orchestration with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to scale services Experience with Cloud-native development frameworks and tools e.g. VPC, Lambda, SNS Understanding of modern cloud scalability to right-size resources to meet platforms computing needs Knowledgeable of modern cloud architecture and holistic developer experience. Tools Public Cloud Services: AWS Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, CloudFormation, JSON, YAML, and ARM Templates Programing/Scripting: Shell Script, Python, PHP, JavaScript, and AWS step functions DevOps Practices: Continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) Networking: Understanding cloud network architecture, VPCs, and load balancing Security: Implementing security best practices, access control, and data encryption Compliance: Adhering to industry regulations and compliance standards Well-versed in Agile Minimum Required Experiences 8 years of hands-on experience engineering cloud platforms Desired Experiences Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Cloud Certifications (Must be validated prior to submittal) Experience working in mission-critical environments
