Job description

Reporting to the Network Connections Manager, this role provides technical and engineering support within the Asset Operations department, with a focus on network connection applications and technical compliance.

The role assesses and manages connection applications to our IDNO network, carries out scope of works and capacity assessments to support ICP tenders, and liaises with host DNOs on network interface requirements. The role also acts as a point of contact for customers and developers and drives continuous improvement across the connections and adoption workflow.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Manage connection applications to our IDNO network - embedded connections, G98/G99, load increases/decreases, disconnections, diversions and assessing technical suitability and producing accurate work offers.

  • Carry out scope of works and capacity assessments (including basic load/fault level checks) to support external ICP tender submissions.

  • Liaise with host DNOs on bulk supply points, embedded generation notifications, and other network interface requirements.

  • Identify and implement process efficiencies across the connections and adoption workflow.

  • Act as a point of contact for customers and constructors, mediating technical and process queries with clarity and confidence.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK required - this role does not offer visa sponsorship.

  • Document and process control experience within a technical/engineering environment.

  • Ability to interpret electrical engineering drawings, plans, and technical reports for consistency and compliance review.

  • Confident communicator, able to mediate technically and commercially across customers, constructors, and internal teams.

  • IT literate, proficient in Microsoft packages, with the ability to learn platforms such as Monday.com and Ultimo.

  • Basic numeracy sufficient to review connection charging statements and contractor tender pricing.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience with Monday.com, Ultimo, or comparable EAM/project management tools.

  • Experience working within a DNO, IDNO, or utility environment on connection or adoption processes.

  • Knowledge of electricity distribution network design philosophy and principles.

  • Broad knowledge of relevant industry Standards, Recommendations, Specifications, and Legislation (e.g. ENA Engineering Recommendations, Ofgem SLC15).

  • Working knowledge of NERS accreditation requirements and ICP connection processes.

  • Familiarity with G81 (or successor NERS technical specifications) adoption standards.

  • Design engineering experience, including preparing designs to support connection offers.

  • Tendering experience, including preparing or evaluating tender submissions for connection works.
