Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Cloud Engineering team, working as part of award-winning, multidisciplinary delivery teams to design and deliver innovative digital solutions for a range of clients.
As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you’ll work closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners, Platform Engineers, Testers and other stakeholders to define the technical vision and ensure high-quality cloud solutions are delivered at scale.
You’ll typically work across one or two client accounts at a time, giving you the opportunity to experience different technologies, environments and ways of working. Projects are predominantly cloud-based, with a particular focus on Microsoft Azure, alongside AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
The technology landscape is varied and can include microservices, containerisation, serverless technologies, service buses, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, cloud security and emerging technologies including AI.
This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical architecture with hands-on delivery, stakeholder engagement and helping engineering teams solve complex problems.
How you’ll spend your day
As the Cloud Solutions Architect, you’ll take ownership of the technical vision across your assigned accounts and provide architectural leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Designing and delivering scalable, secure and resilient cloud solutions across Azure, AWS and hybrid environments.
-
Owning the technical architecture and helping shape the direction of cloud-based solutions from initial design through to implementation.
-
Leading architecture workshops and working closely with client stakeholders to understand requirements and define appropriate technical solutions.
-
Advising Product Owners on the infrastructure implications of product backlogs, roadmaps and delivery decisions.
-
Taking ownership of infrastructure design, provisioning and change activities required to support successful delivery.
-
Provisioning cloud infrastructure components and managing appropriate access within Azure and AWS environments.
-
Coordinating access to existing client infrastructure and supporting the technical onboarding of new environments, teams or tenants.
-
Taking ownership of architecture, technical design and relevant code deliverables, ensuring solutions meet high standards of quality.
-
Supporting cloud transformation initiatives from strategy through to implementation and helping identify opportunities for further improvement.
-
Identifying operational inefficiencies and developing automation solutions that reduce manual effort across delivery teams.
-
Ensuring cloud solutions meet appropriate security, compliance and governance requirements without compromising performance or scalability.
-
Working closely with other Cloud Engineering and delivery teams to support successful implementation and technical integration.
-
Supporting Project Managers and Delivery Leads with technical input into planning, prioritisation, sprint activities and delivery progress.
-
Providing clear technical updates and insight to programme leadership, supporting wider reporting, assurance and strategic decision-making., Should we both wish to proceed, we will submit your details to the client and be in touch regarding the outcome and any further steps.
Requirements
We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect with a strong background designing and delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions. You’ll be technically credible, comfortable working hands-on when required and confident engaging with both technical teams and senior client stakeholders.
You’ll ideally bring:
-
Proven experience as a Cloud Solutions Architect, Cloud Architect or similar role, designing and delivering cloud solutions at scale.
-
Strong experience working across Microsoft Azure, AWS or hybrid cloud environments.
-
Recognised cloud certifications, such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Solutions Architect Professional.
-
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, including technologies such as Terraform and Bicep.
-
Strong experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud delivery practices.
-
A solid understanding of cloud security, compliance, governance and secure architecture principles.
-
Experience working within large-scale enterprise or telecommunications environments would be highly beneficial.
-
Experience working alongside third-party suppliers and vendors within complex client environments.
-
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to lead technical workshops and influence decision-making.
-
The ability to balance strategic architectural thinking with the practical requirements of delivering solutions successfully.
-
Experience supporting cloud transformation programmes and modernising technology environments.
-
A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for automation, operational improvement and technical innovation.
-
Strong organisational and delivery skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple priorities and stakeholders.
