Job description

The senior technical lead for Gravity Media’s in house .NET booking platform. You’ll own the application architecture and engineering standards, lead the more significant design and integration decisions and help the team maintain a reliable, secure and supportable platform. You’ll work closely with the Head of System Development on priorities and with Group IT where the platform depends on wider technology services.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Own and maintain the application architecture and technical roadmap for the booking platform, ensuring it remains scalable, supportable, secure and aligned with business requirements.
  • Set and maintain software engineering standards covering design, coding, testing, code review, release quality, documentation and technical governance.
  • Lead the design of significant application changes and third party integrations, ensuring solutions are resilient, properly documented and do not create unnecessary reliance on one person or system.
  • Assess the available technical options and trade offs, including build versus buy considerations, and provide clear recommendations to the Head of System Development and relevant stakeholders.
  • Own technical debt management and platform lifecycle considerations, identifying risks, priorities and investment requirements.
  • Give final or delegated technical approval for high risk application changes and releases and ensure appropriate quality and rollback controls are in place.
  • Oversee application level CI/CD and DevOps practices in partnership with the DevOps Engineer, ensuring they operate within Group IT infrastructure, security and access standards.
  • Act as the senior engineering interface with Group IT on enterprise architecture, hosting, infrastructure, cyber security, identity/access, resilience and shared technology dependencies.
  • Lead technical engagement with third party application vendors, ERP providers and integration partners, working with the Head of System Development on priorities, commercial considerations and supplier performance.
  • Make sure technical knowledge is shared across the team, ensuring architecture, integration and operational knowledge is documented and understood across the team.
  • Coach and mentor developers, set expectations for technical quality and create an engineering environment that supports learning, constructive challenge and continuous improvement.
  • Deputise for the Head of System Development on technical planning, prioritisation and stakeholder engagement when required.
  • Contribute to estimates, delivery plans and risk assessment and resource/skills and resource planning for the software engineering roadmap.
  • Set clear standards for using AI assisted engineering tools, balancing productivity with security, quality, intellectual property and human review requirements.

Requirements

  • Deep C#/.NET expertise and significant experience designing and supporting production applications that are important to the business.
  • Experience owning application architecture and leading significant technical design decisions.
  • Strong systems integration experience, ideally including Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP platform.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering governance, secure development, automated testing, CI/CD and release management.
  • Experience leading or technically guiding software engineering teams, including mentoring senior and developing engineers.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical decisions, risks and trade offs clearly to senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Confidence working with stakeholders and confidence working with vendors and technical partners.
  • Commercial awareness, including the ability to consider cost, value, risk, supportability and longer term implications in technical decisions.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, problem solving and documentation skills.
