Under direction of the Chief and/or Director, Office of Systemwide Safety and Emergency Management (OSSEM), completes work that encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including, but not limited to, setting up and maintaining sensitive data files, managing data and retention protocols, and serving as a primary technical support for software and hardware technology. Responsibilities also include managing and coordinating the identification, review, preparation, storage, and maintenance of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) video camera footage in schools, school buses, and non-school based offices, in response to court-ordered and administrative subpoenas, as well as internal and external investigations. This role involves close collaboration with school staff and various MCPS offices such as the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Employee Engagement and Labor Relations, and the Department of Transportation to review requests, gather potentially responsive video
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Video surveillance?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, identify relevant incidents, prepare video in accessible formats, and maintain video for potential use in criminal proceedings, personnel matters, student disciplinary proceedings, and other legal actions involving MCPS students and staff. The IT Systems Specialist I is a Grade 20 role. Physical Demands: Position may require work at a computer workstation for sustained prolonged periods of time. Special Requirements: Ability to work overtime as required, work under the pressure of tight deadlines, and to respond to emergency work needs. Overtime requires prior approval for Grade 20
Knowledge Skills Abilities: Thorough knowledge and experience with local, state, and federal security and privacy policies that directly impact Montgomery County Public Schools. Highly skilled with best practices in the execution of security and privacy processes and protocols. Ability to make informed decisions based on established protocols when managing footage. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of computer technology principles, and. Proficient in multiple network environments, standard desktop applications, and communications protocols. Skilled in current operating systems Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, capable of managing multiple projects and resolving hardware/software issues promptly. Strong skills and relevant knowledge in creating and maintaining spreadsheets. Strong working knowledge and experience with networks, communication devices, door and locking hardware systems, CCTV technology and software with an emphasis on access control systems. Adaptable, detail-oriented, and organized, with expertise in security, privacy policies, video editing, and maintaining legal proceeding records.
Education Training Experience: Associates degree in a related field, such as computer science, information systems management, required. Bachelor s degree preferred. Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience in video editing, programming, storage, retention, and related matters. Minimum of two years of experience in servicing, support, and administering access control systems, CCTV, and security cameras. Three or more years preferred. Prior legal, security, or public safety experience involving records management preferred Some experience within the security field and/or emergency preparedness protocols and best practices. Experienced in chain of custody protocols and adept at managing complex tasks with precision under tight deadlines. Combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:A valid motor vehicle operator^s license. Experience with Maxxess, Lenel, and Milestone software - certifications are preferred, but not required
