Job description

We’re seeking a Level 4 Software Engineer to lead the migration of a software development network to an AWS GovCloud-based system. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll own critical infrastructure modernization, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to establish pipelines, configure development environments, and drive daily collaboration on complex technical initiatives.

You’ll be responsible for architecting and implementing AWS GovCloud solutions, managing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring development teams have the tools and infrastructure they need to operate efficiently. This role reports directly to the Engineering and Technical Operations management team and is central to modernizing the company’s development infrastructure.

The impact of this work is significant-you’re enabling the entire engineering organization to operate on secure, scalable, compliant infrastructure while maintaining agility and speed., * Design and implement AWS GovCloud infrastructure to support software development operations and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Set up and configure GitLab pipelines, including YAML configuration and pipeline troubleshooting.
  • Establish development environment configurations, including Nexus and Artifactory artifact management.
  • Manage and optimize Jira workflows and project tracking to align with development processes.
  • Develop and maintain C++ and Python applications supporting the migration and infrastructure deployment.
  • Conduct daily collaboration with engineering teams, including pair programming sessions and design reviews.
  • Implement and troubleshoot CI/CD processes to ensure reliable builds and deployments.
  • Develop software estimates and contribute improvement ideas to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor team members on AWS GovCloud best practices, GitLab pipelines, and development tooling.
  • Ensure compliance with government security requirements and operational standards.

Requirements

Clearance: Security clearance eligibility: Must pass background check, drug test, and support Secret-level security clearance (Active Secret with Investigation in last 5 years or CE enrollment), * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related Engineering/Science discipline

  • 3+ years of AWS GovCloud experience with hands-on infrastructure and service configuration
  • 3+ years of GitLab experience in a pipeline environment, including YAML and pipeline configuration
  • Minimum 5 years combined experience with C++ 11 and Python for software development
  • Linux-based software development experience with proficiency in command-line tools and shell scripting
  • Expert-level knowledge of Nexus and Artifactory for artifact and dependency management
  • Expert-level knowledge of Jira for project and issue tracking
  • Object-oriented software development experience with proven design patterns and best practices
  • Security clearance eligibility: Must pass background check, drug test, and support Secret-level security clearance (Active Secret with Investigation in last 5 years or CE enrollment)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with CMake build systems and toolchain management
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tool suite (Bitbucket, Confluence) beyond Jira
  • Ada programming language experience and ADA testing frameworks (AUnit, Gnatmake, Greenhills compiler)
  • VectorCast, CppUnit, or Gcov/Gcovr experience for advanced testing and code coverage analysis
  • Experience with Agile product development methodologies and ceremonies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to document technical decisions
  • Experience in a daily collaborative environment with comfort in pair programming sessions
  • Understanding of government compliance and secure development processes, * Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM discipline
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

Benefits & conditions

  • Contract Rate: $1,357/hour (based on Level 4: BS + 16 years or MS + 14 years experience)
  • Work Schedule: 4/10-A (4 days, 10 hours per day)
  • Contract Duration: 1 Year (5/27/2026 - 5/27/2027)
  • Work Classification: On-Site Full-Time, Fort Worth, TX
  • Compliance Requirements: Background check, drug test, security clearance processing, PIIA compliance, and conflict of interest disclosure required upon offer acceptance
