Job description
This Desktop Support Technician role supports the Department’s IT infrastructure by maintaining and upgrading end-user devices, implementing cloud-based collaboration tools, and providing remote and on-site technical support. The position is part of a collaborative team focused on delivering reliable, secure, and user-friendly technology services to agency staff. Work with other Data Center teams to set up new clients or to change existing clients’ hardware and software configurations.

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:
- Upgrade and maintain devices to the latest agency-approved version of Windows 11.
- Deploy and support Microsoft 365 applications across user devices.
- Provide remote and onsite support for teleworking employees using:
- Microsoft Remote Assistance and Remote Help for secure, real-time troubleshooting.
- Microsoft Teams for chat-based support, screen sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for supported hardware and software.
- Reconfigure workstations for new and existing users, including hardware and software setup.
- Collaborate with Data Center teams to onboard new users and modify existing configurations.
- Research, evaluate, and test emerging technologies aligned with team goals.
- Assist with implementing collaboration and cloud-based tools such as Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and M365.
- Support mobile device and application management tools including Intune, BitLocker, and Azure Active Directory.
- Participate in on-call or callback rotations as needed.

Higher Student Achievement, It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment.
