Job description

Define and enforce our Java and Node.js coding standards across the team, with a focus on robust exception handling, binary stream handling, structured logging via Application Insights, and security-first development practices
Ensure our application logic is optimised for containerisation, including health check endpoints, secure secret management via Azure Key Vault, correct port mapping for Container Apps, and stateless design principles compatible with Azure Container Apps
Provide hands-on mentorship to junior and mid-level developers through code reviews, technical debt identification, and a culture of engineering excellence
Work closely with our Principal Architect to translate high-level designs into production-ready implementation plans
Champion a strong automated testing culture, including unit, integration, and contract tests, to prevent regression and ensure stable deployments before production

DevOps, We are a well-established and diversified multinational organisation seeking a Lead Modernization Engineer Java / Node.js to join our team. The role is based in Wembley, London, with five days on-site. We are offering a salary of up to £80,000 per annum and an opportunity to work closely with our Principal Architect on modern, cloud-native engineering initiatives.

Requirements

Solid experience in Java development with significant, demonstrable production ownership of Spring Boot and microservices architecture
Proven experience building applications that consume Azure-native services, including Azure Key Vault, Azure Storage API, and Azure Service Bus
Strong understanding of the full CI/CD lifecycle, including the ability to read and contribute to Dockerfiles and GitHub Actions YAML workflows
Deep expertise in RESTful API design principles, OAuth2 authentication flows, including FusionAuth integration, and DMARC-compliant transactional email logic via SendGrid
