Job description

At BT, we are building the next generation of digital experiences that support millions of customer interactions and business-critical services every day. As a Senior Java Full-Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing and evolving the platforms, APIs and services that power our digital channels. Working within a high-performing agile engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering scalable, secure and resilient microservices-based solutions using Java, Spring Boot and modern cloud-native technologies. While the primary focus of the role is backend engineering, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to customer-facing applications using React and modern front-end technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to influence technical direction, champion engineering excellence and help shape the future of BT’s digital platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with architects, product teams, designers and fellow engineers to deliver exceptional customer experiences while mentoring engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture. This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham (Snowhill), with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from Home. What you’ll be doing

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable microservices and backend applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
  • Build, enhance and support RESTful APIs that power BT’s digital products and customer experiences.
  • Write clean, efficient and maintainable code aligned to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical guidance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, analysts, designers and engineers to deliver business outcomes.
  • Contribute to front-end development activities using React and modern web technologies where required.
  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient and aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
  • Support CI/CD practices, automation and DevOps ways of working to improve delivery efficiency.
  • Lead technical discussions and influence engineering decisions within your squad and across the wider engineering community.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help build a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive resolution through strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Contribute to the adoption of cloud-native technologies, modern engineering practices and continuous innovation., When you visit any website, it may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies.
