That means they work with teams across commercial markets, pensions, retail banking, mortgages, HR, Finance or Risk - building the services they need to do their best work.

And as a Software Engineering Placement Student, your work will be anything but behind the scenes. You’ll help design, build, and maintain the applications, platforms, and digital services that millions of customers and colleagues rely on every day. From mobile banking and cloud infrastructure to AI-enabled solutions, you’ll use your smarts to decide what banking looks like tomorrow., * Develop your capability through a blend of structured learning and hands-on experience

  • Get exposed to real business challenges in real environments
  • Transition from learning to delivery at an unmatched pace
  • Keep up with the latest software engineering practices, tools and technologies

What your work could look like

  • Work with experienced engineers, product teams, architects and tech specialists to build software that makes a real difference for customers and colleagues
  • Get stuck into coding with languages like Java, Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Swift, Rust and Golang
  • Learn how modern engineering works in practice, from cloud development and automation to continuous testing
  • Help improve the apps, digital journeys, APIs, AI-enabled tools and platforms that people across the bank rely on every day
  • Use technology to solve real problems, improve experiences and help the business work better
  • Build your confidence as an engineer while learning how software is designed, developed and delivered at serious scale

Support in your corner You’ll get:

  • The opportunity to learn directly from software engineers and technical specialists who know what they’re doing

Requirements

  • Be in your penultimate year at university.
  • While we do not require a set minimum projected degree achievement, we strongly recommend the ability to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge, understanding and technical skills aligned to the role. Some aspects of this will be assessed through the application process.
  • Knowledge of at least one modern programming language or framework.
  • A genuine passion for technology and the drive to keep learning.

About the company

At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you’ll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you’ll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We keep your data safe. So, we’ll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks. We’ll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

We’re focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we’re building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
