Specialist, Information System Security

Position Overview: The Information System Security Specialist will lead and support cybersecurity compliance, risk management, and system auditing frameworks for critical defense network operations in Crane, IN. This role is responsible for ensuring that complex military, tactical, and laboratory computing environments adhere strictly to the Risk Management Framework (RMF), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines, and Department of Defense (DoD) directives. Acting as a key advisor to engineering and software teams, this professional will actively manage security controls, eliminate system vulnerabilities, and safeguard sensitive defense-related data against emerging cyber threats

Requirements Required Qualifications * Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance, with immediate eligibility for TS/SCI clearance access. * Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical core discipline. * Professional Certifications: Current DoD 8570.01-M / 8140 Baseline Certification aligned to IAT Level II or IAM Level II standard (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM, or CAP/ISC2 Certified Authorization Professional). * Technical Experience: Minimum of 3 to 6 years of direct operational experience executing cybersecurity assurance, system configuration hardening, or technical systems administration within a defense aerospace or military industrial landscape. * Framework Proficiency: Direct, practical proficiency utilizing the NIST SP 800-53 security control catalogs, eMASS (Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service) database workflows, and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) Preferred Qualifications * Experience applying secure frameworks to Unix/Linux enterprise infrastructures, industrial control environments, or embedded real-time systems (RTOS). * Familiarity utilizing shell scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell) or Python to automate system compliance checking and streamline log parsing pipelines. * Direct working knowledge supporting naval combat platforms, maritime sensors, or electronic warfare systems under the preview of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane commands Must be able to obtain or have secret or top secret clearance.
