VxRail & VMware SME

The Federal Solution Architect will serve as a senior VxRail and VMware subject matter expert supporting the planning, design, consolidation, migration, and transition of enterprise virtualization infrastructure. The role will focus on designing a modernized VMware environment, consolidating existing vCenter and hardware resources, supporting data-center infrastructure transitions, and assisting with the architecture and implementation of a new Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment. The consultant will also provide post-implementation support, operational guidance, documentation, and knowledge transfer to customer technical teams., VMware & VxRail Architecture

• Provide subject-matter expertise in Dell VxRail and VMware virtualization technologies.
• Design and architect VMware vSphere environments supporting enterprise workloads.
• Develop architecture and implementation plans for new virtualization and VDI environments.
• Evaluate existing VMware environments and identify opportunities for consolidation and modernization.
• Support vCenter consolidation and migration of workloads from legacy VMware environments.
• Assist with virtualization infrastructure planning, including hardware footprint and rack-layout considerations.

Data Center Transition & Consolidation

• Support planning for infrastructure relocation and consolidation activities.
• Develop transition strategies for moving workloads between existing and newly designed environments.
• Coordinate migration activities while minimizing operational disruption.
• Assist with re-purposing or decommissioning legacy infrastructure following successful migrations.
• Provide technical oversight throughout transition and implementation activities.
• Validate new environments before production workload migration.

VDI / Horizon Environment

• Assist with the planning and architecture of a new VMware-based VDI environment.
• Provide technical guidance on VMware Horizon architecture and deployment.
• Support design decisions related to virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and management components.
• Assist with transition from the existing environment to the new VDI platform.
• Provide knowledge transfer and operational guidance for the new environment.

Transitional & Operational Support

• Share ownership of solution migration, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and provisioning activities.
• Support post-implementation management and operational readiness.
• Assist with service-level alignment and operational process development.
• Troubleshoot virtualization and infrastructure issues during transition.
• Provide technical guidance on VMware and VxRail best practices.

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Develop and maintain architecture documents, migration plans, procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Assist with documentation of policies and procedures in coordination with compliance and technical stakeholders.
• Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for customer administrators and engineering teams.
• Share best practices to address technical skills and resource gaps.
• Support customer teams in becoming self-sufficient with the new virtualization environment., * VMware/VxRail target architecture and design documentation.

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Dell VxRail.
• Strong VMware vSphere and vCenter administration and architecture experience.
• Experience designing enterprise virtualization environments.
• Experience with VMware environment consolidation and vCenter migrations.
• Experience planning and executing infrastructure migrations and transitions.
• Understanding of VMware compute, storage, networking, and virtual-machine architecture.
• Experience developing technical architecture and migration documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project-planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with VMware Horizon and VDI architecture.
• Experience designing and transitioning enterprise VDI environments.
• Experience with data-center consolidation or relocation projects.
• Knowledge of Dell VxRail lifecycle management and infrastructure operations.
• Experience with legacy-to-modern VMware environment migrations.
• Familiarity with infrastructure rack planning and physical data-center design considerations.
• Experience supporting federal, defense, or other secure enterprise environments.
• Strong customer-facing consulting and knowledge-transfer experience.
