API Developer

The Princeton DMIA Integration team is seeking a skilled API Developer to join our team. In this role you will design, build, and maintain system-to-system integrations that connect our enterprise applications and enable seamless data exchange across the organization. You will serve as the primary integration engineer for our API platform. Designing a migration strategy from existing WSO2 to next-generation platforms such as Boomi or MuleSoft.

o Linux / Shell scripting\n o Python programming\n o SQL (query authoring and data validation)\n o Basic networking (DNS, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, proxies, firewalls)\n o Cloud infrastructure fundamentals (any major provider)\n o IAM: LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, certificate management\n \u2022 5+ years of hands-on experience with REST API development with various integration patterns\n \u2022 5+ years of hands-on experience with Boomi or MuleSoft integration platforms\n \u2022 Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs; working knowledge of SOAP, GraphQL, and AsyncAPI\n \u2022 Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java for integration scripting and transformation logic\n \u2022 Proficient in SQL for data querying and validation across integration workflows\n \u2022 Linux/Unix environment fluency including Shell scripting for automation and deployment\n \u2022 Understanding of basic networking concepts: DNS, HTTP/S, TCP/IP, proxies, firewalls, and load balancers\n \u2022 Experience with IAM concepts: LDAP, Active Directory, OAuth 2.0, SAML, and role-based access control\n \u2022 Familiarity with cloud infrastructure basics (AWS, Azure, or GCP): virtual networks, storage, managed services\n \u2022 Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)\n \u2022 Ability to read and produce integration design documentation and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger)\n \u2022 Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.\n \n \nPREFERRED: \n \u2022 7+ years of hands-on experience with REST API development with various integration patterns\n \u2022 7+ years of hands-on experience with Boomi or MuleSoft integration platforms\n \u2022 Hands-on experience with WSO2 API Manager and/or WSO2 Micro Integrator (ESB/EI)\n \u2022 Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka or WSO2 Streaming Integrator\n \u2022 Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for integration runtime deployments\n \u2022 Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns (EIP)\n

n \nResponsibilities\n \n \nArchitect, Design and Develop\n \n \n

• RESTful and SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations, and message-based workflows using WSO2 API Manager and WSO2 Micro Integrator.\n
• Architect and implement system-to-system integration patterns including point-to-point, hub-and-spoke, and publish-subscribe models.\n

\n \nCollaborate and Coordinate\n \n \n

• Collaborate with application owners, data engineers, and infrastructure engineers to define integration contracts, SLAs, and data exchange standards.\n

\n \nProduction Support\n \n \n

• Develop and maintain API documentation, integration design specs, and runbooks.\n
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize integration pipelines for performance, reliability, and security.\n
• Enforce API security best practices including OAuth 2.0, JWT, mutual TLS, rate limiting, and threat protection policies.\n
• Participate in on-call production support rotation and respond to integration incidents per SLA.\n
