Job description

Mindbank Consulting Group has immediate openings for cleared Cloud Engineers to support a Navy program in San Diego, California. We are hiring at two levels: Cloud Engineer and Lead Cloud Engineer.

Both positions work in secure cloud, hybrid, and edge-to-cloud environments supporting mission-critical DoD capabilities. The work includes AWS Government, Azure Government, on-premises and tactical computing environments, cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, infrastructure as code, containerized environments, cybersecurity, and distributed systems., * Clearance: Active Secret clearance required for Cloud Engineer; TS/SCI eligibility required for Lead Cloud Engineer

  • Travel: Approximately 5% for Cloud Engineer; approximately 20% for Lead Cloud Engineer
  • Employment: Direct-hire, W-2

The Roles

These positions support the design, implementation, and operation of secure cloud and hybrid environments, including AWS Government, Azure Government, on-premises infrastructure, and tactical or edge computing environments.

Depending on level, responsibilities may include:

  • Designing and supporting secure cloud, hybrid, and edge-to-cloud architectures
  • Supporting AWS Government, Azure Government, on-premises, and tactical computing environments
  • Supporting multi-classification, cross-domain, and multi-level environments
  • Developing and supporting DevSecOps and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Supporting CI/CD, automation, configuration management, and secure deployment processes
  • Designing and supporting containerized environments and distributed systems
  • Applying DoD cloud standards and security requirements
  • Supporting Zero Trust, RMF, STIG, vulnerability management, patching, and secure configuration requirements
  • Troubleshooting complex cloud, platform, networking, and infrastructure issues
  • Working with engineers, cybersecurity professionals, technical stakeholders, and government personnel

Requirements

  • Ability to work 100% onsite in San Diego, CA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevSecOps, systems administration, or related areas
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure
  • Experience with secure cloud or hybrid environments
  • Experience with containerized environments, including Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, configuration management, and CI/CD
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, storage, compute, security, and monitoring
  • Experience supporting secure government or regulated environments
  • Experience with cybersecurity requirements, vulnerability management, system hardening, and compliance

Additional Requirements for the Lead Cloud Engineer

The Lead Cloud Engineer is a senior technical role and requires demonstrated experience leading cloud architecture, platform modernization, and complex technical efforts.

In addition to the requirements above, the Lead must have:

  • TS/SCI eligibility
  • Significant experience with cloud architecture, distributed systems, platform engineering, DevSecOps, or related areas
  • Experience designing and implementing secure cloud and hybrid architectures
  • Experience providing technical leadership for architecture, planning, technical reviews, risk assessments, and trade studies
  • Experience evaluating technical options and making cloud and platform architecture recommendations
  • Experience communicating technical recommendations to engineering teams, stakeholders, and government leadership
  • Experience with senior-level cloud architecture and/or platform modernization
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud, platform, networking, and infrastructure issues

Preferred Experience

For either level, experience with the following is highly valued:

  • AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government
  • AWS and Azure services supporting compute, storage, networking, identity, security, and monitoring
  • Terraform, CloudFormation, YAML, JSON, and Git
  • Bash, Python, PowerShell, and/or JavaScript
  • Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, EKS, and service mesh technologies
  • Microservices, distributed systems, data streaming, event-driven architectures, and real-time analytics
  • DoD Impact Level 4, 5, or 6 environments
  • Zero Trust, RMF, STIGs, vulnerability management, and related DoD cybersecurity requirements
  • Navy, DoD, Intelligence Community, tactical, shipboard, or other operational environments
  • Web infrastructure, reverse proxies, APIs, databases, authentication, Apache, NGINX, PostgreSQL, SQL, Node.js, React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
