Job description

Are you an experienced, entrepreneurial Solutions Architect with deep expertise in database automation, DBaaS, and hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure? Do you excel at simplifying, accelerating, and standardizing database administration across enterprise environments? Are you adept at transforming time-consuming provisioning, cloning, patching, and recovery workflows for databases like PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB and MySQL into single-click operations? If so, join our dynamic Americas Solution Specialists team at Nutanix. In this high-impact role, you will shape the future of enterprise data architectures-connecting modern database automation directly with enterprise AI data pipelines, hybrid cloud strategies, and infrastructure modernization across our largest Americas accounts.

About the Team: The successful candidate will join the Americas Solution Specialists & Systems Engineering Organization at Nutanix-a forward-thinking group dedicated to solving complex enterprise infrastructure, database, and AI workload challenges. We are part of a mature, financially viable cloud software company that prides itself on bringing radical simplicity to complex technology. In this role, you will report to the Manager, Systems Engineering. The position is fully remote within the United States, offering high flexibility, but requires the ability to travel up to 50% (with approximately 30% dedicated to customer discovery, architectural workshops, executive briefings, and partner collaboration across the Americas).

Your Role: As an NDB Solutions Architect for the Americas, you will act as a primary technical deal architect and domain expert, driving pre-sales architecture, technical discovery, proof-of-concept (POC) validations, and database modernization strategies.

  • Domain Leadership & Enablement: Maintain authoritative, deep-dive expertise in Nutanix Database Service (NDB), Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), and the broader database ecosystem. Deliver cross-functional knowledge transfer to regional SEs, sales teams, and channel partners.
  • Architectural Blueprinting: Design and present complex, enterprise-grade database architectures tailored to customer requirements-specifically linking NDB to structured AI data prep pipelines, PostgreSQL on NC2, and database-as-a-service (DBaaS) models.
  • Technical Validation & Demonstrations: Lead advanced technical product presentations, live demonstrations, hands-on Proof of Concepts (POCs), and technical feasibility assessments for enterprise prospects.
  • Broadcom & Competitive Displacements: Intercept legacy manual database, scripting and complex hypervisor dependencies in VMware migration deals; demonstrate how NDB accelerates migrations to AHV while reducing database TCO and licensing overhead.
  • Strategic Discovery & Qualification: Drive deep technical discovery and qualify opportunities for emerging technologies and database modernization across enterprise, federal, and commercial accounts in the Americas.
  • Cross-Domain Solution Pairing: Collaborate closely with specialists across Nutanix Enterprise AI (NAI), Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP), Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2), and External Storage to deliver full-stack solution architectures.
  • Opportunity Expansion & Field Feedback: Identify portfolio expansion opportunities within installed accounts, synthesize customer feedback, and partner directly with Nutanix Product Management and Engineering to influence the NDB product roadmap.

Requirements

Technical & Architectural Experience

  • Database Expertise: Deep technical proficiency with major enterprise database engines-specifically PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB and MySQL. Strong understanding of database administration (DBA) workflows, high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and performance tuning.
  • Database Automation & DBaaS: Hands-on experience with database automation, copy data management (CDM), database backup/recovery, automated patching, lifecycle management, and API-driven database provisioning.
  • Infrastructure & Hybrid Cloud: Solid grounding in virtualization (AHV, ESXi), enterprise storage architectures, containerized databases (Kubernetes/NKP), and public cloud IaaS platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Scripting & Integration: Familiarity with REST APIs, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform for integrating database workflows into broader CI/CD or ITOM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

Field & Pre-Sales Capability

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing pre-sales technical role (Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, or Database Specialist Architect) within an enterprise software, cloud, or infrastructure organization.
  • Consultative Selling: Proven track record of leading architectural design workshops, executing successful POCs, answering RFIs/RFPs, and handling complex technical objections from DBAs, Infrastructure Architects, and CXOs.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to articulate database TCO, licensing savings (e.g., core optimization for Oracle/SQL Server), operational efficiency gains, and risk reduction to senior IT leadership.

Soft Skills & Operational Requirements

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; able to translate intricate database engineering concepts into clear business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience / industry certifications (e.g., Nutanix NCP/NCA, AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, Oracle OCP, or Microsoft SQL/PostgreSQL certifications).
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% across the Americas region as required for customer engagements, team offsites, and industry events.
