Job description

  • We will have our principal engineer own architecture across multiple services.

Requirements

  • We require at least 10 years of experience at principal or staff grade equivalent.
  • We require expert-level Java 17 or 21 experience, including modern language features.
  • We require in-depth Spring Boot experience, including security, transaction management, and async/reactive development.
  • We require microservices architecture design experience, including designing services from scratch.
  • We require production experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • We require hands-on AWS experience, including EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and EventBridge.
  • We require experience owning CI/CD pipelines.
  • We require a strong automated testing discipline, including JUnit, Mockito, integration testing, and TDD or BDD.
  • We require frontend leadership experience in React, including leading React work itself.
  • We require experience implementing FFE/BFE separation.
  • We require architecture ownership across multiple systems.
  • We require cross-team technical leadership.
  • We require a track record of influencing engineering standards, technology choices, or hiring.
  • We require evidence of growing other engineers.
  • We require UK SC clearance eligibility and a UK national with 5 years of continuous UK residency.
  • We require that applicants not need sponsorship now or in the future for UK permanent employment status.

Benefits & conditions

We are a growing technology consultancy offering a hands-on principal engineering role with salary up to £80k, and potentially higher for the right candidate. The role can be based remotely, with occasional travel to London for client work and travel expenses paid, typically about once a month. We are working on a platform built with Java/Spring Boot microservices on AWS EKS, a Next.js frontend, and Camunda-based process orchestration.
