Job description

This full time Data Platform Engineer position in London sits with ed Resourcing Ltd, paying £70,000 to £80,000 annually plus a 10% bonus and benefits. The successful candidate manages and evolves a complex Snowflake and Azure ecosystem, moving away from traditional pipeline construction towards infrastructure, automation and platform engineering. Responsibilities cover building self-service capabilities, automating provisioning, and supporting teams consuming the platform. As the team shifts to a DevOps model, strong technical problem-solving and hands-on infrastructure skills prove essential. Applicants should demonstrate experience with Snowflake, Azure, automation tooling and platform support, alongside a proactive approach to improving systems and resolving challenges within a collaborative engineering function., We’re looking for a hands-on Data Platform Engineer who enjoys getting stuck into infrastructure, automation and platform engineering. This isn’t a traditional Data Engineering role where you’ll spend your time building data pipelines or applications. Instead, you’ll be working on the platform underneath the data, helping manage and evolve a complex Snowflake and Azure ecosystem, building self-service capabilities and automating the way teams provision and use the platform. The team is increasingly moving towards a DevOps / platform engineering model, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, improving things and getting hands-on. What you’ll be doing

  • Managing and developing the Snowflake platform and wider data platform ecosystem.
  • Building self-service capabilities that make life easier for engineering and data teams.
  • Designing and maintaining Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Automating platform provisioning and operational processes.
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Working with Azure data services, including Data Factory, Storage/Data Lake and emerging AI services.
  • Improving platform reliability, monitoring and observability.
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure and platform issues.
  • Working closely with engineers, architects and data teams to improve the platform.
  • Helping drive engineering standards and best practice from within the team.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is genuinely hands-on and enjoys being close to the technology. You’ll ideally have:

  • Around 3+ years’ experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure or Data Platform Engineering.
  • Strong Terraform / Infrastructure-as-Code experience - we’re looking for someone who really knows their Terraform.
  • Strong hands-on Azure experience.
  • Around 1-2+ years of Snowflake experience, ideally working with the platform itself rather than simply developing applications on Snowflake.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling.
  • Experience with Azure data services such as Data Factory and Azure Storage/Data Lake.
  • Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell or Bash.
  • A genuine interest in automation, self-service and DevOps.
  • A relevant HashiCorp Terraform certification would be great, but strong demonstrable Terraform expertise is equally important.

The kind of person we’re looking for You don’t need to be a manager or have a big leadership background. We’re much more interested in someone who is a solid hands-on engineer who likes getting into the detail, figuring things out and improving how things work. If you’re a Snowflake administrator who has strong development/IaC skills, a DevOps engineer moving into data platforms, or a Data Engineer who has developed a strong platform engineering skillset, we’d be interested in speaking with you.

Benefits & conditions

£70,000 - £75,000 + 10% bonus + excellent benefits
