Job description

  • Develop and maintain embedded software features for Silicon Labs wireless radio platforms.

  • Design, implement, test, and debug firmware in C/C++ for resource-constrained microcontrollers.

  • Support radio-control capabilities, including transmit, receive, power management, timing, and diagnostic features.

  • Collaborate with hardware, radio design, SDK, validation, and applications teams to bring new wireless products and features to market.

  • Investigate software and hardware integration issues using debuggers, logic analyzers, and other lab tools.

  • Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, automated testing, and continuous improvement of development processes.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Strong interest in embedded software, wireless communications, and low-level system development.

  • Academic or project experience in embedded software development using C or C++.

  • Understanding of fundamental wireless communication concepts, including RF, modulation, packet-based communication, or digital signal processing.

  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded peripherals, interrupts, memory-constrained systems, and real-time software concepts.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

  • Ability to use development and debugging tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or protocol analyzers.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.

  • Ability to learn complex technical systems, analyze issues, and turn requirements into well-tested software.

  • Clear communication and a collaborative approach to solving engineering challenges.

The following skills will be considered a plus:

  • Internship, co-op, research, or project experience related to embedded firmware, wireless systems, or IoT devices.

  • Experience with bare-metal embedded software development, including low-level programming without an RTOS.

  • Exposure to Bluetooth Low Energy, Zigbee, Thread, Wi-Fi, proprietary wireless protocols, or multiprotocol systems.

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for test automation, data analysis, or development tooling.

  • Knowledge of RTOS concepts, device drivers, bootloaders, power optimization, or embedded security.

  • Exposure to Git, CI/CD workflows, unit testing, and automated hardware-in-the-loop testing.

  • Participation in engineering competitions, technical organizations, research publications, or relevant student leadership activities.
