Azure SQL DBA

This position is for an Azure SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the administration, security, and performance of Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises and Microsoft Azure environments. The role involves supporting infrastructure and application teams to ensure database platforms are reliable and optimized. The Azure SQL DBA will administer SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines and Azure SQL PaaS offerings, participate in cloud modernization, and support critical business applications., * Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade SQL Server environments.

• Administer SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Assist in cloud migration initiatives, including upgrades to SQL PaaS from IaaS.
• Implement and support Azure-based high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Azure Site Recovery.
• Implement and validate database backup and recovery strategies, supporting enterprise backup solutions like Rubrik.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell and T-SQL automation scripts.
• Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments using Terraform to call modules and deploy resources.
• Manage incidents and service level agreements for various business lines.
• Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams, providing support for migrations and backups.

• 5+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience.
• 3+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience with database migration projects.
• Experience managing SQL Server High Availability solutions, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Technical Skills:

• Microsoft SQL Server Administration and T-SQL.
• Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Terraform for deploying infrastructure.
• Azure Site Recovery and security principles.
• PowerShell Scripting.
• Backup and Recovery Technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Rubrik backup and recovery platforms.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300).
• Experience supporting PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other enterprise database platforms.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS, or other security frameworks.
