SC Cleared Azure Platform Architect | Outside | Remote

We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Platform Architect to support the design and evolution of secure, scalable cloud foundations within a complex central-government environment. This is an opportunity to shape the standards, guardrails and reusable capabilities that allow delivery teams to build and operate services confidently in Azure. The Role

You will take ownership of the architectural approach for Azure landing zones and shared platform services, working across cloud, security, infrastructure and engineering teams. The focus will be on creating a well-governed, resilient and secure Azure estate that supports modern digital delivery. Key Responsibilities

• Design and assure Azure landing-zone architecture across a multi-subscription cloud environment.
• Define standards for Azure governance, management groups, subscriptions, policy, access and resource organisation.
• Develop secure patterns for identity, networking, connectivity, logging, monitoring and operational management.
• Produce clear architecture artefacts, including high-level designs, roadmaps, reference architectures and technical recommendations.
• Work with engineering, security and infrastructure teams to embed reusable platform capabilities and guardrails.
• Provide architectural oversight for cloud adoption, service migration and the ongoing evolution of the Azure estate.

• Active SC clearance.
• Proven experience as a Cloud, Platform or Infrastructure Architect in a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong Azure architecture experience, including the creation or significant development of Azure landing zones.
• Knowledge of Azure management groups, subscriptions, policy, RBAC, Entra ID, networking and security controls.
• Experience designing governance, resilience, monitoring and operational-management approaches for cloud environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to work effectively across technical teams and senior governance forums.

Desirable

• Experience within central government or another highly regulated environment.
• Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates.
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD and platform engineering practices.
• Experience of hybrid-cloud connectivity, Zero Trust principles and cloud migration programmes.
• Azure architecture or security certifications.
