Job description

Our client, a technology organisation based in Worcester, is seeking a Data Governance Lead to support its transition from legacy platforms to cloud-based services. This newly created role will help strengthen data governance as the business develops its Software as a Service (SaaS) model, hosts customer data and delivers data products for both customers and internal teams., * Supporting data migration activity from legacy systems to cloud-based platforms

Helping establish and maintain effective data governance frameworks, standards and processes
Providing governance oversight for data products being developed for customer and internal use
Upholding data contracts across business value streams and ensuring agreed data standards are maintained
Using knowledge of Unity Catalog to support data discovery, access control, ownership and governance
Working closely with data specialists, technology teams and business stakeholders to promote trusted and well-managed data
Contributing to the migration towards a SaaS model and the secure hosting of customer data
Presenting data governance updates and insights to senior stakeholders, including board-level audiences, * The opportunity to shape a newly created data governance function
Involvement in a significant legacy-to-cloud data migration programme
Exposure to SaaS transformation and the development of customer-facing data products
Opportunity to work alongside experienced data, technology and product specialists
Visibility with senior and board-level stakeholders

Requirements

Experience in data governance, data management or a closely related technology discipline
Strong understanding of data migration, particularly migration from legacy systems to cloud environments
Knowledge of Unity Catalog and its role in data governance, security and data discovery
Understanding of data contracts, data ownership, data quality and data lifecycle management
Ability to work effectively with technical specialists without needing to be an architect or deeply technical engineer
Experience supporting data products, cloud platforms or SaaS transformation programmes
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including confidence engaging with senior leaders
Analytical, organised and collaborative, with a practical approach to improving data governance
