System Engineer

Orion Group Life Sciences are currently recruiting a Senior System Engineer (Hybrid - at least 2 days in office) on behalf of our Multinational Biopharmaceutical Client based in Cambourne, UK on a 2-year contract with potential to extend. As Senior System Engineer you will have significant impact on our multi-disciplinary R&D projects, grow with us as we venture into new technologies and will lead work groups in our projects as part of the connected devices line of products during the product lifecycle of both discovery and delivery. Role Functions:

• The responsibilities will include defining System, HW, Embedded, ATE, SW & Integration requirements as well as contributing to the design stage of each discipline, defining the protocol, technical problem solving, proof of concept and field testing and assisting in tests design and investigations. The work will require collaboration with teams located in California USA and in Israel.
• The position requires multidisciplinary understanding, ability to quickly grasp new technological aspects as well as constraints, the capability to work in a multi-site matrix organization and working closely in a Product and Platform team with other system engineers, embedded software developers, HW engineers, Integration Engineers as well as backend and front-end teams.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in system engineering of multidisciplinary systems
• Experience in working with communication products, Embedded, HW, RF systems

• Ability to understand complex IoT systems and quickly grasp new technical concepts with focus on challenges ahead and alternative comparison
• Experience of working in complex multidisciplinary projects that requires a high level of technical know-how

• Experience with Linux environment
• Experience in working with Atlassian suite and/or Azure DevOps
• Experience in working with Agentic AI for discovery and innovation
• Coding capabilities (C/C#/Java/Python)
• Experience with RF communication technologies (BLE, WiFi, LTE-M, LoRa, etc)
• Knowledge in backend systems and serverless solutions
• Working with Cloud based infrastructure for IoT devices
