Job description

  • Contribute to key projects that influence how inventory is managed at Zalando
  • Collaborate to define the product strategy, roadmap, and backlog of the team, ensuring alignment with our business goals and objectives
  • Engage with various stakeholders to understand the business context and contribute to developing and customising relevant and scalable solutions
  • Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from discovery to execution, adapting focus as needed. Collaborate closely with engineering peers to address this complex problem space
  • Foster and promote an inclusive culture and a diverse team environment
  • Engage in the creation and definition of team processes

Requirements

  • Programming Language skills: You’re proficient in a Java-based language (e.g., Kotlin) and can quickly learn new technologies. Knowledge of php is a plus, but not required.
  • Infrastructure skills: Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (like AWS) and relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, or Presto/Trino) is a plus.
  • Operational Excellence: You have an idea of maintaining and operating complex systems at scale by applying industry best practices around monitoring and alerting
  • Collaborative & Communicative: You work well in cross-functional teams and are skilled at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Building proactive relationships across departments will be key to your success.
  • Curious & Innovative: You’re always looking for ways to improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations. Your curiosity drives you to explore new techniques and propose research initiatives that push the boundaries of our simulation capabilities.

As a Junior Software Engineer working on backend services in the Inventory domain within Fulfillment Core, you will develop key products that are essential to our fulfillment process. As part of a new team you will collaborate with other engineering teams to provide centralised capabilities around Inventory such as integrating with Third Party Logistics Providers. You will be able to own and shape interesting new projects and influence the future of inventory at Zalando.
