Engineer (II, SR, SRII)

Serves as a mechanical engineer supporting the unit overhaul and plant support team. Develops engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company’s hydroelectric generation and other utility facilities/systems. Projects will be focused on generating and auxiliary plant equipment but may include fish facilities, dams, water conveyance equipment, and facility infrastructure., * Develop studies and prepare data for cost estimations and analyses.

• Conduct or oversee site inspections to ensure adherence to engineering standards.
• Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, processes, or facilities to support Company objectives, utilizing engineering methods.
• Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.
• Guide and direct associate level engineers, technicians and drafters.
• Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs.
• Manage outside engineering services and general or specialty contractors.
• Maintain project timelines and budgets and monitor progress compared to plans.
• Act as a lead in the work group; train and mentor associate and career level engineers, technicians and drafters.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college/university.
• Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.

• Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

• A minimum of two or more years of experience in industrial power systems, electric utility power systems, or related engineering experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
• Understanding of Company’s business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards, regulations, and codes
• Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
• Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.
• Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.

In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer requirements include:

• A minimum of five or more years’ experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related engineering experience.

In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer II requirements include:

• A minimum of Six or more years’ experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related engineering experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based upon role. *

Preferences

• Experience working with federal regulatory agencies.
• Experience providing technical direction for hands-on work
• Professional Engineering license in a related field
