Job description
You will work on high-complexity systems that capture, process, and prepare data for presentation through user interfaces. The work spans backend Java development, API design, distributed systems, analytics, prototyping, and systems integration, giving you the opportunity to influence both how the software is built and how data moves through the larger mission environment.
What Makes This Opportunity Stand Out
This role is ideal for a senior Java engineer who likes solving hard backend problems without adding unnecessary complexity. You will have room to make architectural decisions, define service boundaries, and build purpose-fit solutions that scale while staying maintainable.
The DIGS team operates at the intersection of software engineering, analytics, data processing, and user-facing mission capabilities. You will help evaluate changes to existing systems, prototype new analytic capabilities, and build backend services that allow UI teams to present mission data in new and useful ways.
At Intelliforce, your work is visible and your technical judgment matters. Because we support prime programs, our engineers stay close to the mission and the people using what they build. Because we are a small business, leadership is accessible, communication is direct, and strong engineering gets noticed. Add in long-term stability, strong benefits, and a people-first culture, and this is an opportunity to do senior-level engineering work without getting buried under layers of process.
Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Could Include
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java
- Build RESTful APIs and backend services supporting DIGS capabilities
- Make architectural decisions around service design, frameworks, and system boundaries
- Evaluate when frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot add value and when a lighter solution is the better fit
- Develop scalable, maintainable software for high-complexity mission environments
- Work with relational databases, schema design, ORM frameworks, and NoSQL data stores
- Capture, triage, and evaluate changes to existing DIGS systems
- Prototype new data-processing and analytic capabilities for DIGS development teams
- Develop capabilities that process mission data for presentation through DIGS user interfaces
- Debug complex software issues and improve existing services
- Participate in code reviews and maintain strong engineering and quality standards
- Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, DevOps engineers, and other technical disciplines
-
