Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) Artificial Intelligence Code Review Software Product Management Data Streaming TypeScript ReactJS Front End Software Development

Job description

This is a senior front-end seat on a product where the UI is not a fixed set of screens. Interfaces assemble themselves from model output, configuration and data, which means you will spend as much time on rendering strategy, state and failure modes as on components. You will work closely with product, design and back-end engineers across time zones, which calls for someone who writes things down, makes decisions without waiting for a meeting, and follows up. The right person has strong opinions about React architecture and accessibility, and the patience to bring others with them., * Build React interfaces that render dynamically from model output, configuration and data rather than being fixed at build time.

  • Design and ship conversational and chat-led experiences, including streaming responses, loading states and graceful failure.
  • Own accessibility from the start of a build rather than retrofitting it before launch.
  • Take AI-powered features from idea into production, working directly with model APIs rather than only consuming finished endpoints.
  • Drive front-end architecture decisions across state management, component structure and performance.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with product, design and engineering colleagues in other time zones.
  • Review code and raise the standard of the front-end codebase.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers and set the patterns the rest of the team follows., * Applied AI product work where the interface itself is the difficult part, not a wrapper on someone else’s API.
  • Belfast base with a genuinely distributed team, so flexibility is built into how the team already works.
  • Accessibility treated as an engineering standard rather than an afterthought.
  • Room to shape architecture, set patterns and mentor others.
  • Salary and full package details available on application.

Requirements

  • 8+ years building production front ends, with deep React experience covering hooks, state management and performance work.
  • Strong TypeScript and a solid grasp of modern build and rendering approaches.
  • Experience with UI that is generated or rendered dynamically from data, configuration or model output, with a specific example you can talk through.
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI-powered product features, beyond using coding assistants day to day.
  • An approach to accessibility that starts at design rather than at QA.
  • Comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team.
  • Based in Belfast or Northern Ireland, or actively relocating.

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Experience building chat or conversational interfaces, including streaming and message state.
  • Exposure to design systems or component libraries shared across multiple products.
  • Familiarity with evaluation or telemetry for AI features, so you can tell whether a change actually improved the output.

About the company

At a Glance

  • Belfast based. If you are not in Northern Ireland or actively moving here, this one is not for you.
  • Senior level, 8+ years, React and TypeScript at the core.
  • Applied AI product where the interface is generated and rendered from model output, config and data rather than fixed at build time.
  • Conversational and chat-led UI work, with accessibility built in from the first commit.
  • Distributed team across multiple time zones, so genuine autonomy and asynchronous working.

About the Company

My client is a product company building applied AI software, with its engineering base in Belfast and colleagues spread across several time zones. The product puts AI in front of users directly rather than burying it in a back-end process, which makes the front end the place where the hard problems live. It is a small enough environment that the person in this seat shapes how things are built, and well enough established that the work ships to real users.
