Systems Administrator

We are seeking a System Administrator to support a DoD virtual desktop environment serving approximately 275 users in the Honolulu, HI area. Reporting to the IT Site Lead, this role is responsible for administering servers, virtualization platforms, operating systems, and core infrastructure services while ensuring system availability, security, and compliance with DoD requirements, STIGs, and Authorization to Operate (ATO) standards., System Administration & Operations Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments. Administer virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Horizon. Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; troubleshoot and resolve issues. Manage Active Directory users, groups, permissions, and Group Policy. Administer core services including DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems. Perform system backups, recovery testing, patching, and scheduled maintenance activities. Cybersecurity & Compliance Implement and maintain DISA STIG compliance across supported systems. Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) continuous monitoring activities. Conduct vulnerability assessments using ACAS/Nessus and remediate findings. Maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, ATO requirements, and DISA guidance. Support audit logging, POA&M remediation efforts, and cybersecurity documentation. Documentation & Support Maintain system documentation, SOPs, configurations, and network diagrams. Participate in configuration management and change control processes. Provide Tier 2/3 support for server, VDI, and account management issues. Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues. Support exercises and operational requirements that may require extended hours.

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. High School Diploma plus 2 additional years of relevant experience (5+ years total) and at least one technical certification may be substituted. 3+ years of system administration experience in a DoD or government IT environment. Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy. Experience with virtualization platforms, preferably VMware vSphere, ESXi, and Horizon. Knowledge of STIG implementation, RMF, vulnerability management, and ACAS scanning. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification required (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent). Preferred Qualifications VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent virtualization certification. Microsoft Azure Administrator or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator certification. Experience with DISA STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker, and ACAS/Nessus. Familiarity with eMASS and other DoD cybersecurity tools. CompTIA Server+ or equivalent infrastructure certification. Experience supporting military exercises or operational environments.
