MBS Design Engineer

Our client is looking for a talented Design Engineer to join their growing team. They design and manufacture pre-engineered metal buildings and steel framing systems for a variety of uses, from agricultural buildings to industrial facilities. In this role, you’ll play a key role in the entire building lifecycle, from concept to completion. You’ll collaborate with diverse teams to ensure structures are not only functional but also cost-effective and meet the highest quality standards. Here’s what you’ll do:

• Analyze customer requirements through drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Utilize your engineering expertise to design metal buildings and accessories using MBS and other tools.
• Partner with estimating to develop winning proposals and quotes for projects.
• Work closely with production to identify and resolve design/manufacturing challenges, continuously seeking cost-saving opportunities.
• Bridge the gap between engineering and manufacturing, fostering communication and collaboration for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to ensure project success.
• Address customer inquiries and provide technical support related to engineering design.
• Coordinate seamlessly with internal teams like estimating, drafting, purchasing, and manufacturing to ensure project efficiency.

• A Civil or Structural Engineering degree (or equivalent) from a four-year college (preferred).
• Five or more years of experience in structural design.
• A strong foundation in engineering principles and design practices.
• Proficiency in engineering software like MBS and excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.

A plus if you have:

• Experience developing engineering design aids using C#, Excel (with VBA), and Python.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) License and NCEES Record.
