Job description

Redgrave LLP is looking for a Lead Software Developer to design, build, and scale the custom applications and AI-powered tools our attorneys and staff rely on every day. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you’ll architect and write code directly, lead a team of developers through the full software development lifecycle, own our CI/CD and containerization strategy, and drive the adoption of AI-assisted development and AI-powered features across our application portfolio. If you want to lead from the keyboard, not just from a distance, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of custom applications from requirements gathering through production support
  • Architect, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, reliable, and secure releases
  • Design and manage containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalability, portability, and resilience
  • Champion AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and establish best practices for their responsible use
  • Design and implement AI/LLM-powered features and integrations, including RAG pipelines and agentic workflows
  • Lead technical architecture decisions, evaluating trade-offs and documenting design choices
  • Mentor developers through code review, pair programming, and technical coaching, with an emphasis on Python best practices
  • Establish and maintain code quality and automated testing standards (unit, integration, end-to-end)
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, attorneys, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Identify and remediate technical debt, bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities
  • Design evaluation approaches to assess AI system quality, including accuracy and hallucination risk

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in a technical lead or senior individual contributor role
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Python, including modern frameworks (Django, FastAPI, Flask)
  • Demonstrated experience across the full SDLC - requirements, architecture, development, testing, and deployment
  • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Proven experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent)
  • Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs or models into production applications
  • Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills and familiarity with web frameworks (e.g., NextJS) preferred
  • Experience deploying AI applications across multiple cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • .NET development experience (C#, ASP.NET Core), particularly in mixed-stack or migration environments
  • Experience integrating with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Graph, or Microsoft 365 Copilot
  • Experience with Azure application services (App Service, Container Apps, Functions, API Management, Key Vault, Service Bus, Azure SQL, or Azure Database for PostgreSQL)
  • Experience building RAG pipelines, agentic systems, or multi-agent architectures
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and model lifecycle management
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience in legal, financial services, or another regulated industry with heightened client security requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across practice areas and competing priorities, This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and move about an office environment for extended periods; use a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment; view computer screens and read printed materials; and communicate verbally and in writing.
