Job description

As a MFGSRE Fullstack Engineer, you’ll take part in the design, development, and deployment of applications and tools that automate and enhance MFGSRE processes and help us better manage manufacturing systems. You’ll take ownership of complex problems and build solutions for them end to end. You’ll be expected to move projects at an aggressive pace and ensure everything you build is secure and scalable across our factories globally. MFGSRE supports and solves a diverse set of problems every day - device and host discovery, factory printing and imaging, camera and footage systems, robotics backup and recovery, and the metrics and logging pipelines that keep the floor observable. Your contributions will directly support Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. What You’ll Do

  • Identify requirements and build new tools and applications from scratch
  • Extend DuyManager, our internal observability and metrics platform, to collect and alert on Prometheus metrics across the factory fleet so problems surface before they reach the floor
  • Design and develop high-quality, scalable, and distributed web applications and backend services
  • Perform significant testing and identify possible edge cases, and maintain and update existing applications and tools
  • Design efficient, cohesive database schemas
  • Create Jenkins pipelines / GitHub Actions and configure applications for Kubernetes deployments
  • Design easy-to-use web interfaces following Tesla design heuristics
  • Consume REST APIs to communicate with backend services
  • Build data visualizations and operational dashboards
  • Build responsive interfaces that work across factory-floor HMIs, tablets, and desktops

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python or Go, with a willingness to work in both. Strong proficiency in React and JavaScript. Solid understanding of fundamental web technologies such as HTTP, REST, AJAX, and JSON
  • Design and development experience with applications that require high availability, concurrency, multi-tenancy, and scalability
  • Strong REST API design and implementation experience and experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Distributed source control using tools such as Git
  • Working knowledge of observability tooling - Splunk, Grafana, and MetricsQL/PromQL - and comfort using metrics and logs to debug production issues
  • Python: experience with web frameworks such as Django or Flask, and building schemas with an ORM (Django Models or SQLAlchemy). Go: experience building HTTP services with the standard library and common frameworks
  • Experience designing schemas against relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Familiarity with networking terminology and infrastructure (switches, gateways, firewalls, TCP/IP, VLANs)
  • Understanding of SSL/TLS certificates and how to implement them
  • Experience with object storage (S3)
