Junior/Medior Application Engineer

As an Application Operations Engineer, you play an important role in ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of Exact’s cloud-hosted applications. Together with your colleagues in the Application Operations team, you help operate business-critical SaaS solutions used by hundreds of thousands of customers every day. Our products run in multi-cloud environments on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). You support the monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement of these customer-facing applications while working closely with development, infrastructure, and product teams. Across Cloud Operations, we support more than 25 different products and workloads, serving over 700,000 users. As a member of the Application Operations team, you contribute to the reliable operation of these services and help ensure that our customers can depend on Exact’s solutions every day. Our Cloud Operations organization consists of around 60 colleagues across Delft, Utrecht and Kuala Lumpur. Within this organization, Application Operations and Infra Operations work closely together to deliver a reliable and scalable hosting platform. This vacancy specifically applies to the Application Operations team operating from Delft and Utrecht., + Monitor the health, availability, and performance of cloud-hosted applications.

• Investigate and resolve incidents, alerts, and operational issues.
• Perform operational tasks related to application management and maintenance.
• Execute application updates and configuration changes following established procedures.
• Work closely with Development, Infrastructure Operations, and Product teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
• Help improve monitoring, automation, documentation, and operational processes.
• Participate in incident management activities and support operational excellence initiatives.
• Learn and develop expertise in cloud technologies, application hosting, and operational best practices.
• You will work closely with colleagues across Europe and Asia to ensure a reliable experience for our customers. Your attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and proactive attitude help maintain the high standards of Exact’s cloud operations.

You are eager to learn, enjoy solving technical challenges, and have an interest in cloud technology and application operations. You have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Min 2-3 years professional experience in Application Operations, Technical Application Management, IT Operations, or a similar technical role.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting applications in a production environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• A proactive attitude and willingness to continuously learn and improve. Nice to have:

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or AWS CloudWatch.
• Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar).
• Familiarity with Linux environments and the ability to perform common operational tasks, such as log analysis, process management, file system navigation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Experience with ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management., Next, you’ll meet the hiring manager to discuss your technical background, experience, and motivation for working in cloud operations. A final round may include a discussion of operational scenarios and how you approach troubleshooting and problem-solving.
