Job description
- Capturing and analysing network traffic using Wireshark, PCAP and tcpdump
- Investigating network behaviour at packet and protocol level
- Analysing TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ports, protocols and traffic flows
- Filtering packet captures to identify patterns, anomalies and potential issues
- Troubleshooting network connectivity, latency, routing and protocol issues
- Extracting, transforming and analysing technical/network data
- Using Python and SQL to work with network, telemetry or data sets
- Working alongside data, networking and security teams
- Supporting cloud-based data and network environments
Requirements
You should have strong hands-on experience across:
- Wireshark
- PCAP / packet capture
- Network traffic analysis
- Network sniffing
- tcpdump
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- HTTP / HTTPS
- Network protocols and troubleshooting
- Python and/or SQL
Experience with GCP / Google Cloud, BigQuery, Pub/Sub or Dataflow would be beneficial, but it is not essential. The priority is genuine hands-on network traffic and packet analysis experience.
