Your new role

We are seeking a Junior AI Researcher to support AI research and innovation activities on a part-time, fractional basis, working approximately 1-2 days per week.

This opportunity would suit someone at the early stages of their AI career who is passionate about emerging technologies and keen to gain hands-on experience researching, evaluating and testing AI solutions within a commercial environment.

You will play a key role in exploring developments across Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI and related technologies, helping identify practical applications and opportunities for innovation.

Whether you’re a recent graduate, MSc or PhD student, Junior AI Engineer, Data Scientist or aspiring AI Researcher, this is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure within one of the fastest-moving areas of technology.

Key responsibilities

• Research emerging developments within Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI.
• Monitor and evaluate new AI tools, platforms and technologies.
• Support proof-of-concept and experimentation activities.
• Assist in assessing Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI solutions for business applications.
• Conduct market and technical research into AI trends and innovations.
• Produce clear summaries, findings and recommendations based on research activity.
• Explore prompt engineering techniques and AI model performance.
• Support AI prototype development and testing where required.
• Review academic research, industry publications and emerging best practices.
• Contribute ideas to support ongoing AI innovation initiatives.

What you’ll need to succeed

Essential skills and experience

• Demonstrable interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Generative AI.
• Understanding of Large Language Models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar technologies.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Basic understanding of Python or another programming language.
• Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies.

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience with AI-related personal, academic or commercial projects.
• Exposure to Agentic AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and methodologies.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, LlamaIndex or similar.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• MSc, PhD or degree-level education in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline.
