Head of Technology & Transformation

This is a senior Technology & Transformation leadership role within an established, mid-sized professional services business. Reporting directly to the COO, you’ll oversee both the IT and Projects functions, providing the strategic leadership that brings technology, transformation and business improvement together. You’ll work closely with the existing IT and Project leads, ensuring current priorities are effectively managed while also looking across the wider business to identify where technology, systems, process improvement, automation and AI can make a genuine difference.

You’ll take ownership of the wider technology and transformation roadmap, providing oversight across BAU IT, systems, projects, suppliers and emerging technology. A key part of the role will be understanding how the business operates, identifying opportunities for improvement and turning these into practical recommendations and initiatives. You’ll act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership, helping prioritise investment and change, challenging where appropriate and ensuring projects and technology initiatives remain aligned with wider business priorities. You’ll also oversee external technology partners and support the organisation’s developing approach to AI, automation and digital innovation.

They’re looking for somebody with significant senior leadership experience spanning both IT/technology and transformation/change. You’ll need experience overseeing an internal IT function and technology strategy alongside systems implementations, projects and wider business improvement, with the ability to operate strategically while remaining close enough to delivery to make things happen.

This isn’t a traditional hands-on Head of IT role or a pure Programme/Transformation position. They’re looking for someone who can bridge the two, communicate technology in commercial terms and work credibly with senior stakeholders. Experience within a mid-sized, complex or professional services environment would be beneficial, although they’re particularly open to transferable experience from other sectors.

He completed his Prince 2 certification in November 2017.
