Data Analytics / Data Scientist, Sr. - Hybrid

As a Senior Data Scientist (AI Lead) within Pfizer’s Innovation, Data & Analytics team, you will own the analytical methodology and evaluation rigor behind AI-powered workflows.

You will lead model selection, cohort and customer/HCP segmentation, evaluation frameworks, and analytical decision logic for agentic systems. Working closely with AI/ML Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Analytics, and Governance teams, you will translate sophisticated analytical methodologies into production-grade AI agents and pipelines.

This role combines advanced data science, healthcare analytics, artificial intelligence, strategic leadership, and cross-functional influence. You will also mentor developing data science and engineering talent while helping identify new opportunities to improve AI workflow quality, adoption, and business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Methodology & Analytical Leadership

Own model selection methodologies and evaluation frameworks for AI-based workflows.

Develop rigorous approaches for evaluating model performance, analytical quality, and business impact.

Design cohort and customer/HCP segmentation methodologies using real-world healthcare data.

Direct analytical logic and decision-making frameworks supporting agentic AI workflows.

Ensure AI methodologies are rigorous, defensible, reproducible, and aligned with applicable standards.

Partner with AI/ML Engineers to translate analytical methodologies into production-grade agents and data pipelines.

Strategic Analytics & Business Support

Support strategic and tactical planning around medical and analytical priorities.

Identify new data sources, analytical techniques, and evaluation approaches that can improve workflow quality and adoption.

Translate complex analytical findings and trade-offs into clear recommendations for business and technical stakeholders.

Connect advanced analytics and AI capabilities to meaningful business outcomes and patient-focused objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with Data Architects and Data Analysts to ensure analytical outputs align with data models and quality standards.

Partner with Engineering and Governance teams to establish appropriate analytical and AI controls.

Build trusted relationships with Pfizer leaders and external stakeholders.

Lead diverse stakeholders through complex analytical and technology initiatives.

Communicate effectively across scientific, technical, business, regulatory, promotional, patient/consumer, and media contexts.

Leadership & Talent Development

Independently lead complex data science and AI initiatives from strategy through execution.

Mentor and coach junior data scientists and data engineering colleagues.

Help develop analytical capabilities, technical expertise, and business knowledge across the team.

Influence peers and stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority.

Drive transformational change and support an organization capable of adapting to evolving technologies and business needs.

Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Clinical Informatics, or a related discipline.

Relevant professional experience based on education:

8+ years with a Bachelor’s degree

7+ years with a Master’s degree

5+ years with a PhD

Significant data science experience, particularly within the healthcare sector.

Healthcare or pharmaceutical data experience, including claims, EHR, HEDIS, and/or OMOP frameworks.

Hands-on experience evaluating and experimenting with Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic AI systems.

Demonstrated ability to independently lead projects and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Experience mentoring and supporting the professional growth of colleagues.

Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and external stakeholders and quickly establish credibility.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical medicine, including:
