Job description

BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a skilled and experienced Software Engineer. This position supports the following program: a signals intelligence (SIGINT) processing systems program that develops and integrates data ingest, protocol processing, and microservice-based mission software for an Intelligence Community customer. The position is onsite at Fort Meade, MD, and the role is open now for an immediate start. Our client is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that has supported U.S. defense and intelligence missions since 2012. Its systems, software, and data science engineers work side by side with government teams to model, design, integrate, and deploy complex mission systems, and the company also builds rugged RF hardware for specialized SIGINT applications. Led by a U.S. Navy veteran with more than 30 years of DoD mission experience, the company supports programs alongside many of the largest national security integrators and has a long-established presence in Maryland near Fort Meade. What will you do Develop and integrate microservice solutions for signals intelligence (SIGINT) mission systems. You will build Python services, package and deploy them with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, and connect them to SIGINT system interfaces within a service-oriented architecture. You will work in an established build environment and apply proven microservices deployment patterns to keep mission software reliable and easy to maintain. This role suits a hands-on developer who has containerized and deployed services on Kubernetes and wants to apply those skills to mission work., * Develop microservice solutions in Python for SIGINT mission systems.

  • Containerize services with Docker and deploy them to Kubernetes using Helm charts.
  • Integrate new services with existing SIGINT system interfaces.
  • Design and build components that fit a service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • Apply microservices deployment patterns to deliver reliable, maintainable services.
  • Work within the program’s build environment to compile, package, and release software.
  • Automate routine development and deployment tasks with shell and Bash scripts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in containerized services running on Linux.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and seven (7) years of software engineering experience. Eleven (11) years of software engineering experience may substitute for the degree.
  • Hands-on experience with Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm (all four are required).
  • Familiarity with working in a software build environment.
  • Working knowledge of microservices deployment patterns.
  • Experience developing service-oriented architectures and microservice solutions.
  • Experience integrating SIGINT system interfaces.
  • Proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line and shell/Bash scripting.
  • Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade, MD.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with SIGINT data processing or other Intelligence Community mission systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows.
  • Experience working on Agile/Scrum development teams.
