Job description

We are seeking a Java Developer with strong experience building scalable backend applications, deploying applications to AWS, and implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, with particular emphasis on Docker-based deployments and application deployment automation., * Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot backend applications.

  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and/or event-driven services and integrate with databases and external systems.

  • Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate application build, testing, security checks, packaging, and deployments.

  • Containerize applications using Docker and manage Docker-based deployments across multiple environments.

  • Deploy and operate applications on AWS, including containerized application deployments using ECS/EKS.

  • Own and support the end-to-end application deployment lifecycle, including configuration, deployment validation, troubleshooting, rollback, and production support.

  • Drive improvements in deployment automation, reliability, repeatability, and speed, reducing manual deployment activities.

  • Troubleshoot CI/CD and application deployment failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.

  • Write clean, maintainable code with strong unit/integration test coverage and participate in code reviews.

  • Collaborate with application, platform, and DevOps teams to improve CI/CD and deployment standards and practices.

  • Participate in Agile teams (planning, estimation, standups, retrospectives) and contribute to technical design.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience (or equivalent).

  • Strong backend development experience in Java and Spring Boot.

  • Deep experience designing and developing REST APIs and backend services.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as:

o Compute/Containers: EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda

o Storage/Data: S3, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB

o Networking/Security: VPC, IAM, Security Groups, KMS

o Observability: CloudWatch (logs/metrics/alarms)

  • Strong hands-on CI/CD experience using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.

  • Strong experience with Docker, including building images, containerizing applications, and deploying Docker-based workloads.

  • Experience with application deployment automation, environment configuration, deployment troubleshooting, and rollback strategies.

  • Understanding of container orchestration and deployments using Kubernetes/EKS.

  • Solid knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/Oracle) and SQL; NoSQL exposure is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Git, branching strategies, release management, and code quality practices (linting, static analysis).

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, CDK.

  • Microservices architecture and messaging/streaming (Kafka, SQS/SNS).

  • Security practices: OWASP, secrets management, dependency scanning, SAST/DAST.

  • Experience improving CI/CD pipeline performance and deployment automation.

  • Experience with monitoring stacks (PrometheGrafana, ELK/OpenSearch).

  • Knowledge of blue-green, rolling, or canary deployment strategies.

  • Cloud cost optimization and reliability engineering practices.

Typical Tech Stack (Example)

Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, AWS (EC2/ECS/EKS/S3/RDS/IAM/CloudWatch), Terraform, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI.
