Job description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Java Developer to design and build the core backend services of a Master Data Management platform for a leading global credit ratings organization. You will engineer the server-side components that power Security Master, Entity Master, and Reference Data workflows - including data ingestion, processing, match-merge engines, workflow orchestration, and integration with downstream systems - using Java Spring Boot on AWS. Responsibilities: Design and develop backend microservices using Java Spring Boot for MDM core functions: data ingestion, validation, match-merge, golden record management, and stewardship workflows. Build RESTful APIs consumed by the React UI and downstream enterprise systems, following OpenAPI/Swagger standards. Implement business logic for survivorship rules, conflict resolution, and golden record computation for Security and Entity Master data. Integrate with AWS services: RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway Build workflow orchestration for stewardship tasks using AWS Step Functions or equivalent. Implement security controls: OAuth2/JWT authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), and data masking. Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards. Collaborate with the MDM Architect on design decisions and contribute to HLD/LLD documentation. Support DevOps pipelines (CI/CD) for containerized deployments on Docker/EKS. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. 10+ years of backend software development experience with at least 7 years on Java Spring Boot. Strong experience with microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and event-driven patterns. Proficiency with AWS cloud services: RDS, S3, SQS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway. Experience building data processing pipelines for high-volume, low-latency financial data. Solid understanding of OAuth2, JWT, and API security best practices. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions). Domain exposure to financial data - securities, reference data, or MDM - is strongly preferred. Deep Java expertise: Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Batch. Microservices design patterns: CQRS, event sourcing, saga, API gateway. Performance tuning: JVM optimization, connection pooling, database query optimization. Ability to translate complex domain rules (golden record logic, survivorship) into clean, testable code. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive technical decisions in a collaborative team environment Base Compensation Range: $130,000- $150,000 The posted range is the hiring range for this role - a subset of the broader range available to employees over time - and reflects base salary across our national hiring scale. Final offers are based on several factors, including the candidate’s skills and experience, internal pay equity, work location, market conditions for the role, and the specific scope and responsibilities of the position. The top of the range is reserved for candidates who notably exceed the requirements; the lower end applies to those with less experience or fewer preferred qualifications. For positions based in higher-cost zones (e.g., California, New York, New Jersey), actual compensation may exceed the posted range; your recruiter will share specifics during the process.
