Job description

As a Founding Engineer at Flywheel, you will work directly with the founders to design, build, and scale our AI-native content platform.

You will be responsible for core pieces of the product, from backend systems and data pipelines to the product surfaces that customers touch every day.

You will:

  • own mission-critical parts of the platform, from building content generation pipelines to developing reliable web scrapers, integrations and backend systems that scale with our customers.
  • design and ship AI-native product experiences, creating the workflows and interfaces that turn founder knowledge into reusable components and move ideas from research to draft to distribution.
  • bring your own ideas to life, working directly with users to understand their pain points, proposing solutions and iterating quickly to deliver high-quality product improvements.

Requirements

  • You are genuinely strong at something. Could be backend, infra, product engineering or something adjacent, but you have a track record of being very good, very fast.
  • You are hungry. You want to build one of the defining products in AI and are comfortable working 6 days a week with people who care as much as you do.
  • You think in systems. You see content, data, and workflows as things to be modelled, automated and improved, not one-off tasks.
  • You finish things. You ship, you close loops, you clean up after yourself. You take pride in code that works in production, not just in a demo.
  • You are direct and collaborative. You communicate clearly, give and receive feedback, and keep ego low in service of the work.
  • You learn fast. New stack, new API, new model, new data source, you figure it out and move.
  • You like being in the room. This is an in-person role in London with a small, tight team.

We are particularly excited by people who:

  • Have built and owned full backend systems end to end. You have experience with databases and architectures similar to ours, including vector search, retrieval pipelines, event driven jobs, background workers and multi-step orchestration.
  • Have worked with LLMs in production (prompting, RAG, evaluation, agents), or are clearly capable of getting up to speed fast.
  • Have strong product taste and can sketch or prototype interfaces, then make them real with React / similar.
  • Have hacked together their own scrapers, automations, or internal tools to get an edge.
  • Have shipped something end to end on their own, even if it was small: a side project, a tool, an app, an internal system that people actually used

About the company

Flywheel is building the AI-native content engine for the best B2B companies.

Simply put, we work with high calibre founders and execs to turn their expertise into compounding organic content that drives pipeline. We went from zero to $250k ARR in 60 days. This is the first inning.

We believe the future of marketing teams includes a new role: content engineers. People who think in systems, prompts, data, and distribution, not just copy. We are assembling a small group of killers to build the platform that powers them.
