Job description
We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Analyst DTEC to join our Infrastructure Team to provide day-to-day administration of the Group’s Cyber and AI Lab estate, supporting teaching, research and skills development across cyber security, networking, AI and data science.
The postholder will maintain virtual teaching environments, user access, cloud and on-premise lab resources, AI development platforms and cyber security training systems. They will work closely with curriculum teams and industry partners to ensure teaching environments are secure, available and ready for delivery.
This is a hands-on technical role operating within a defined framework. Platform architecture, strategic design and technical governance remain the responsibility of the Enterprise Architect.
This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week, hybrid based on site at our Openshaw campus in Manchester., Cyber & AI Lab Support
- Manage user accounts, access permissions and onboarding/offboarding processes.
- Support cyber security platforms, virtual labs, AI development environments and remote access services.
- Maintain secure access to datasets, AI tools and learning platforms.
Platform Administration
- Deploy and maintain virtual desktops, virtual machines and training environments.
- Support AI platforms, including Linux workstations, notebooks and containerised environments.
- Maintain software, updates, storage and system performance.
- Monitor service availability and resolve technical issues.
User Support
- Provide first and second-line support to students and staff.
- Troubleshoot authentication, connectivity and platform issues.
- Escalate complex infrastructure or security issues when required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with curriculum teams to support teaching delivery.
- Act as a key contact for Cyber and AI Lab services across LTE Group.
- Communicate service updates, maintenance activities and outages.
Continuous Improvement
- Maintain technical documentation and support guides.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and automate routine tasks.
- Contribute to the development of guidance materials for staff and students.
Requirements
- Experience supporting Linux systems and virtualised environments.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Knowledge of cyber security principles and access management.
- Familiarity with Python and automation.
- Understanding of AI and machine learning concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience with GNS3, EVE-NG or Packet Tracer.
- Knowledge of Jupyter, TensorFlow, PyTorch or container technologies.
- Familiarity with GPU-enabled environments and AI platforms.
- Experience of identity management and virtualisation technologies.
Qualifications:
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in Computing, IT, Cyber Security, AI/Data Science, or equivalent experience.
Desirable
- CompTIA Security+, Network+ or Linux+.
- Microsoft AI-900 or AZ-900.
- NVIDIA or other relevant Cyber/AI certifications.
