TJJD - Data Analyst IV

Performs complex (journeylevel) analytical and reporting support for the Juvenile Justice System of Texas. Leads complex analytical projects, designs or adapts analytical approaches, develops advanced reporting and decisionsupport products, and resolves complex data and methodological issues. Provides technical guidance to analysts and works with program, research, technical, and leadership stakeholders to translate business needs into effective analytical solutions. Facilitates agency data governance process. Reviews analytical work for accuracy and methodological soundness and presents findings and recommendations to leadership.

Works under general supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Hybrid inoffice / workfromhome role but not restricted to Austin Metropolitan area (agency has locations throughout the state). May be required to work more than 40 hours per workweek and travel occasionally.

Essential Job Duties

Leads complex analytical projects and highimpact reporting assignments from problem definition through analysis, validation, interpretation, and delivery.

Designs or adapts analytical methodologies, measures, models, and validation strategies appropriate to complex business questions.

Conducts advanced statistical, multivariate, predictive, or other complex analysis when appropriate to the question and available data.

Develops complex dashboards, analytical models, executive reporting products, visualizations, and decisionsupport analyses.

Designs dataquality controls, audit procedures, and validation methods and resolves complex data, reconciliation, and reporting issues.

Writes and facilitates data governance documentation in consultation with subject matter experts and other agency stakeholders.

Leads requirements discussions with program, research, technical, and leadership stakeholders; identifies underlying business needs and translates them into analytical approaches and deliverables.

Reviews analytical work products, calculations, methodologies, and documentation for accuracy, consistency, reproducibility, and methodological soundness.

Uses SQL and Microsoft Power BI proficiently and applies Python as appropriate for analysis, automation, or repeatable analytical processes.

Communicates complex findings, assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations in clear, actionable language appropriate to the audience.

Trains and mentors analysts and coordinates analytical contributions across projects without exercising supervisory authority.

Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:

• Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.
• Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames.

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.

Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

Bachelor’s degree. Four (4) years of fulltime wageearning professional experience in data or statistical analysis.

A cover letter is required., * Experience leading complex analytical, reporting, research, or programevaluation projects.

• Advanced experience with SQL and Microsoft Power BI and experience using Python for analysis or automation.
• Experience designing dataquality controls, validation methods, performance measures, or executive reporting.

Experience and Education Substitutions:

Completed course hours of graduate study may substitute for up to two years of experience on a basis of 12 graduate course hours for one year of experience.

Completion of a relevant data analysis or data science training program may count toward years of experience depending on the hours and content of study.

Experience requirements may be satisfied by the prorated parttime equivalent.

Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be from an accredited educational institution.
