Job description
- Participate in architecture reviews and influence technical decisions for new products,
platform enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
- Take ownership of backend services throughout their lifecycle, including design,
implementation, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a technical leader on complex engineering initiatives by helping guide
architectural decisions, establishing engineering best practices, and influencing technical
direction across the team.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, DevOps, QA, Security, and
cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Perform thoughtful code reviews while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering
best practices across the organization.
- Improve platform observability through centralized logging, monitoring, distributed
tracing, and performance metrics.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and continuous delivery
initiatives that improve software quality and release velocity.
- Drive technical debt reduction, platform modernization, and adoption of modern backend
engineering practices.
- Participate in production support, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous
reliability improvements.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience building backend applications in production
environments.
- Strong experience designing distributed systems and scalable service-oriented
architectures.
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language such as
Go, Java, Python, C#, or a comparable language.

Extensive experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.

Strong understanding of software architecture principles, including SOLID, Clean
Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and common design patterns.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design,
query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.

Hands-on experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Memcached.
-
Experience with asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures using Kafka,
RabbitMQ, Google Pub/Sub, or similar technologies.
- Experience deploying and operating services within cloud environments, preferably
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native
application development.
- Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment
processes.
- Familiarity with observability tools including centralized logging, monitoring, metrics, and
distributed tracing.
- Strong understanding of backend security best practices, including authentication,
authorization, API security, and secrets management.

Experience working within Agile software development environments.

Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives from design
through production while balancing scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

Excellent analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Advanced English proficiency. Experience supporting products serving millions of daily active users.

Experience building highly available, low-latency backend platforms operating at internet
scale.

Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming technologies.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar).

Experience optimizing cloud infrastructure for scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency.

Experience contributing to backend platform modernization, cloud migration, or
large-scale architectural transformation initiatives.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across multiple
engineering initiatives.
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, production operations, and
operational excellence.
- Experience working with AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot,
Cursor, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or similar) to improve engineering productivity and
software quality.
