IT Field Engineer

Based in Barcelona, SMGTEC SL is a fast-growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Smart Hands IT company. We provide on-site IT infrastructure, network support, and data center services to enterprise clients across Spain. We are rapidly expanding our footprint and are building a nationwide network of reliable, skilled IT field engineers for ongoing and upcoming dispatch projects. The Role We are looking for experienced Level 1 Network and Smart Hands Engineers to join our dispatch network. As a partner engineer, you will act as our “eyes and hands” on the ground for various enterprise clients. You will travel to client sites within your region to deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain network infrastructure while collaborating live with our remote L2/L3 support teams. Note: We are building our nationwide database. Whether you are in a major hub (Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia) or a remote area (Palma, Bilbao, Pamplona, etc.), we want you in our network for immediate and future ticket dispatches., + Mount, unmount, and replace IT network devices including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and Access Points (APs).

• Perform basic configuration of network devices on-site.
• Connect your laptop to client equipment to provide console access to our remote engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot, test, and replace faulty LAN cabling.
• Clearly label all cables and devices according to project standards.
• Communicate effectively via MS Teams and follow live instructions from remote technical leads.

• Proven experience in IT Field Service, Smart Hands, or L1 Network Support.
• Must be an active Freelancer/Independent Contractor (Autónomo) or have a registered local entity in Spain able to issue invoices.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (willingness to travel to regional sites).
• Familiarity with standard Spanish Occupational Risk Prevention (PRL) compliance.

• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish. Required On-Site Tool Kit (Must Have)

• Windows Laptop with Putty (or similar terminal emulator) and MS Teams installed.
• Console cables and LAN cables for testing.
• Standard IT hand tools (screwdrivers, cage nuts, etc. for racking/unracking).
• Label printer for cable management.
• Wi-Fi dongle or mobile hotspot for continuous internet connectivity on-site.

• Fair Compensation: Competitive dispatch rates, plus paid travel time and mileage (per kilometer) for out-of-city remote sites.
