Job description

Come and build innovative services that protect our cloud from security threats. As a Security Engineer (SecEng), you’ll help to build and manage services that detect and automate the mitigation of cybersecurity threats across Amazon’s infrastructure. You’ll work with data scientists, software development engineers, and security engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative security solutions at massive scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customers’ trust in us. You’ll get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that proactively protect every single AWS customer, both internally and externally, from security threats - not many teams can say that!, Research, identify, and prioritize security problems that can be detected using automation. Develop detection prototypes for these security problems to enhance our detection capabilities. Identify opportunities to prevent security issues at scale. Mentor and develop teammates both technically and professionally. Seek out, develop, and advocate for new technology to research, identify, and mitigate complex risks. Requirements

2+ years of scripting, programming, and security code review in a common programming language (non-internship) experience

  • 2+ years of troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating basic tasks using command line tools (non-internship) experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or experience in IT Security
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
  • Knowledge of industry-based security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
  • Experience performing security activities across one or more phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), such as security design review, threat modeling, secure code review, and security testing
  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
  • Experience with AWS Services including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SQS
  • Experience leveraging native cloud telemetry (GuardDuty, CloudTrail, VPCFlow, R53 Resolver Logs) for detection engineering/incident response

Benefits & conditions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
