Job description

We are seeking a Lead BIOS Firmware Engineer to play a key role in the development of innovative products for rugged embedded computing platforms in challenging defense, aerospace, and industrial settings. This position involves hands-on work in creating, adapting, and tailoring BIOS for newly designed hardware. Collaboration with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineers is essential from the early stages of board setup to final production. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Responsibilities Design and customize UEFI BIOS for new Intel/x86 embedded systems Modify AMI or Intel reference BIOS for new hardware configurations Take the lead on BIOS setup and initialization for new boards Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, memory, register, and peripheral issues at a low level Verify interfaces such as PCI Express, USB, SATA, and other board-level functions Cooperate with hardware and firmware colleagues to address integration challenges Provide ongoing support for BIOS development, from testing to manufacturing

Requirements

Practical experience in UEFI BIOS development, not just maintenance of BIOS-dependent systems Direct involvement in porting, customization, and setup of BIOS for new boards Proficiency in C programming and embedded development at a low level Familiarity with Intel x86/x86-64 architecture and platform initialization Knowledge of AMI BIOS, Intel reference BIOS, or similar commercial BIOS platforms Strong grasp of hardware/firmware interaction, registers, memory, and peripherals Experience in debugging newly developed hardware running BIOS code that you contributed to Ability to work full-time at the Huntsville location Additional experience with Secure Boot, AMD Ryzen, ARM, IPMI, U-Boot, Embedded Linux, VPX/OpenVPX, RTOS, Git, Jenkins, or defense/aerospace systems is advantageous.
